Packaged Automotive Electrical and Technology Program

The Automotive Electrical program contains three Australian Nationally Recognised qualifications that must be completed in sequence; the qualifications are:

1. Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology

This qualification signifies the role of individuals responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems and components in vehicles within the automotive electrical service and repair industry. As of the time of publication, there are no particular licensing, legislative, or certification requirements linked to this qualification.

2. Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology

This qualification embodies the role of individuals working as master diagnostic technicians within the automotive service and repair industry. They are tasked with servicing, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems and components in vehicles. It demands a broad range of advanced electrical diagnostic skills and knowledge and the ability to lead and supervise team members.

3. Diploma of Automotive Technology

This qualification covers a variety of essential duties for professionals in the automotive retail, service, and repair industry. Those with this qualification have the skills to diagnose vehicle problems, including identifying issues based on customer-reported symptoms or those noticed during inspections.

Entry Requirements

The Automotive Electrical Technology program requires prospective students to have completed the following to ensure success in the course

  • Have completed high school (Year 11 equivalent) and passed
  • provide evidence of English language scores*, EILTS 5.5 or PTE/ OET/ CAE equivalent; please see Australian Department of Home Affairs - English Language Requirements Page
*Some countries are exempt from English requirements.
